Smart Quote of the Day February 24, 2025

“Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”                 Spoken by Mandy Pantinkin in The Princess Bride 1987

And now for something completely different. A movie quote from a favorite film. The quote is probably the film’s most famous line. Pantinkin says the line gets repeated back to him at least two or three times a day even now.

If you haven’t watched The Princess Bride with your kids or seen it, period, this film is a classic for a reason. A grandfather, played by Peter Falk, reads his sick grandson a story about a farm boy turned pirate who encounters numerous obstacles, enemies, and allies in his quest to be reunited with his true love.

The cast is loaded: Robin Wright plays Princess Buttercup, Cary Elwes plays the farm boy, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, André the Giant, Billy Crystal–plus a host of other perfectly cast actors and director Rob Reiner are magic. Well written, well cast, well directed, well acted. This outstanding film has it all. If you’ve been looking for something uplifting and fun, look no further than the original. The film was selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant.
