Whether you think you can, or think you can’t - you’re right. Henry Ford
Although Henry Ford did not invent the internal combustion engine, he is credited with building the first horseless carriage and making automobiles affordable to the masses. His first passenger car, the Model T, graced the roads from October 1908 until 1927. More than 16 million Model Ts were sold in those nineteen years, giving the average person the means to travel around their country, a privilege once enjoyed only by the wealthy.
Henry’s path was not a straight, smooth road. He wanted to create what he wanted to create, and that made investors unhappy. His story is a long and interesting one that I won’t go into here.
Henry’s point was that mindset is an important component of success. When we believe that we can achieve something we put more effort into it, which increases our odds of success. Conversely, if we don’t believe we can achieve our goal, we tend to give up before we even start.
Be optimistic. Our beliefs shape our reality.
