Writing Inspiration

I write in several genres because my interests are all over the place. One thing that fascinates me is the ramifications of cloning a human. I’ve been exploring the idea in my Amelia Blueheart space opera series, where clones are property with zero rights.

Amelia is genetically engineered to carry out specific duties for a powerful group known as the Tribunal. The Tribunal holds a monopoly over cloning and creates a variety of clones to fill different needs. Amelia is top of the line, a translator clone who easily learns and retains languages, expensive to create and train and the biggest source of revenue for the Tribunal.

The Blueheart series not only explores Amelia’s personal journey. Along the way we have mysteries and dangers and the larger, overarching mystery of the Tribunal.

Here is the premise for the first book in the series, A Desperate Gamble:

"Clones. A step above droids in the humanoid hierarchy. Emotionless, highly specialized translator clones mediate negotiations of all kinds galaxy-wide. Failure to close the deal means certain–and immediate–termination. The turnover rate is astronomical.

When clone T564 cannot break the impasse between two parties who refuse to compromise, her owners give her twenty-four hours to find a solution or die. In a galaxy where clones are little more than slaves . . . what happens when a clone defies her owners and goes off script?"
